KAAR Livestream Classes

We’re looking forward to delivering credited courses virtually. To get acclimated to the new platform, please take some time to review the training tips we have provided below.

* PLEASE NOTE: If the KAAR Education Center is open by this time, this class will be offered live, onsite at KAAR; if not, it will only be offered as a livestream class via Zoom. Either way, you will be notified.

KAAR Virtual Class Requirements

The following virtual training rules must be followed in order to earn CE:

  1. You must have working camera and audio equipment to participate. As an attendee, you are responsible for the performance of your own technology, including video, audio, and reliable internet connection.*
  2. Students will be visually monitored for participation and/or engagement 100% of the time. (If your camera is turned off, or you just have a photo on the screen, you will NOT receive CE.)
  3. Performing other tasks on your equipment is not allowed during class time.
  4. The instructor will provide time for breaks.
  5. At no time should a student log off during the class. If you must step away from your computer, use the chat feature to let your monitor know.

*Most laptops have these features as do most portable devices. Please review the system requirements provided by Zoom.us: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362023-System-Requirements-for-PC-Mac-and-Linux

NOTE: All virtual CE courses hosted & managed by KAAR will be recorded for regulatory audit purposes.

Login/Check in for Classes Prior to Class

LOGIN/CHECK-IN FOR CLASS BEGINS 20 MINUTES PRIOR TO START OF CLASS AND WILL END WHEN CLASS BEGINS. After clicking the “join meeting” link (emailed to you a day or two prior to class), you will be asked to wait until the host/monitor verifies your ID and admits you.

Please have either a screenshot of the profile screen from verify.tn.gov or a picture of your driver’s license that you will send through a private chat on Zoom. Here’s how:

Click here to test your audio and video connection by joining a Zoom test meeting.

There are two ways to join meeting audio, joining via computer or joining via telephone. We recommend joining 20 minutes before the start of class, this will give you time to test your audio connection and camera, you will also have time to send any questions to the meeting host.

How to Switch Video Layouts

Speaker View: The default video layout and only shows the active speaker. We recommend this layout while class is in session.

Gallery View: You can also select to view your video layout in Gallery View. When using Gallery View, you will be able to see all participants and will have an arrow to scroll through the remaining participants.

Side by Side View Option: When you are viewing a screenshare, you can view in speaker or gallery view at the top of your screen or in Side-by-Side Mode. Click the swap icon at the upper right corner of the Zoom window to switch the content for the video feed.

How to change views in meeting:

  1. Click the icon at the upper right to swap it back or click Switch to Sharing Content.
  2. Click View Options, then Side-by-Side Mode to switch into Side-by-Side Mode.
  3. When in a meeting and viewing a screen, click on View Options and choose Side-by-Side Mode.
  4. The shared screen will appear on the left and the speaker will appear on the right.  Slide the separator to the left or right to adjust the size of each view.
  5. Click Speaker View or Gallery View at the top to switch between the two.
  6. To exit Side-by-Side mode, click View Options, then uncheck the Side-by-Side Mode option.
  7. The video of the speaker will now display at the top of the screen, with the shared screen in the center of the window.
