Posting an Open House

Although real estate services can continue, we have an opportunity, and a responsibility, to serve as leaders in our community. It is VERY important that everyone comply with CDC protocols and orders when conducting business during this time.  By practicing social distancing and following Safer At Home orders, we can do our part to take precautions and set a positive example for others around us.

Real estate agents are tough. They adapt, change and grow. In these trying times, they look for opportunities and face challenges head-on. To help, we would like to introduce a new feature to the MLS: Virtual Open Houses.

In person Open Houses are not allowed in Knox County by order of the Knox County Health Department.  Members in surrounding areas are strongly discouraged from holding in person Open Houses and should check with their local county government regarding their permissibility during this time. The In Person Open House option has been temporarily turned off in flexmls.   You now have the option of adding a Virtual Open House to your listing.

This feature is for agents who want to show a home virtually instead of in-person by using a tool like Zoom, GoToMeeting or Facebook Live. Use it to virtually host an open house for prospective buyers. To add, simply access the Open House section when editing your listing. You can add a link to an online event, along with a description for the link.   Please keep in mind of the MLS policy that photos, videos and a virtual open house should be unbranded which means you should not mention your name or your firm.  Introduce the property by the address.

Please note that:
•Only post links to live online events that will be held at a scheduled date and time under the Open House feature.
•Post pre-recorded videos and virtual tours in the Videos and Virtual Tours section of the listing instead.

The following live web conferencing services are allowed:

  • Facebook Live
  • Zoom
  • Google Meet
  • Microsoft Teams
  • YouTube Live
  • GoToMeeting
  • GoToWebinar
  • GoToMeet.Me
  • Skype
  • WebEx
  • Whereby
  • BlueJeans
  • Zoho Meeting

As stated by NAR it is important to "Consider how you may continue providing first-class services to clients, while also exemplifying REALTORS as community leaders by demonstrating care for the health and well-being of clients, colleagues and the greater public welfare in reducing the risk of exposure to, and spread of, COVID-19.”
