Supra Key & Lockboxes
Before a Member Can Obtain a Supra Key, They Must Complete the Following Steps:
- Attend/complete the new member orientation
- Possess an active real estate license
- Have residential MLS access
- Be acquainted with MLS Rules regarding the common key lockbox service
- Complete a Master Key Custody Agreement* (requires broker signature)
- Obtain a key within 30 days of completing orientation
Once a member has completed the above steps, he or she must schedule an appointment with KAAR staff in order to receive a key. Key appointments take approximately 15-20 minutes. We cannot take cash payments on behalf of Supra.
Please schedule your key appointment at least a day in advance by calling (865) 584-8647. Be prepared to have your Apple ID and password available for your key appointment.
If you are an Affiliate member (home inspector or pest control professional), please contact KAAR for information about obtaining a Supra key.
Agents are NOT allowed to share keys or borrow another member’s key. See MLS Penalties for loaning a Supra Key.
In the case of a key malfunction, an agent or broker is allowed to loan his/her key to an agent within their own office in the following situations only if that agent meets the following criteria:
- Has signed a Master Key Custody Agreement
- Is current on all dues and fees
- Is in good standing with the MLS
A key cannot be borrowed for a period exceeding 48 hours, and a Supra Key Incident Report must be sent to KAAR immediately following the return of the key.
If you bought lockboxes from another agent that were originally purchased from KAAR and you wish to transfer them into your name, you and the seller of the boxes must sign a Lockbox Transfer Form. There is no warranty on boxes that were not originally purchased from KAAR.
The cost for new Supra Lockboxes is $135 per box, which includes a lifetime warranty for KAAR members.
If you have a lockbox that has malfunctioned on a house or has a battery life of five percent or less, you may bring it into the KAAR office for a replacement. If a lockbox has malfunctioned on a house, you may use any means necessary to remove it, including cutting the shackle with bolt cutters. We do not mind if you have to bring us the lockbox in pieces. As long as the lockbox number on the side of the device is legible, we are happy to exchange it for you.
PLEASE NOTE: Because we have no means of opening a box to retrieve key(s), we strongly recommend that you have a spare key(s) of the listing on hand, as we must return all faulty lockboxes to Supra.
