REALTORS®/Affiliate Brokers

TREC requires REALTORS®/Affiliate Brokers to complete 16 hours of state-approved continuing education (6 of which must be the mandatory “TREC Core Course”) every two-year licensing period, prior to the expiration date of your license. The remaining 10 hours must be state-approved elective courses, which may be taken in class or online. In addition, REALTORS®/Affiliate Brokers must complete NAR’s ethics course, which is required every 3 years (current cycle: 2019 - 2021).

Brokers

TREC requires Brokers to complete 120 post-broker hours by the third-year anniversary of receiving their broker license, including the state-required TREC Core course and 16 hours of continuing education every two years thereafter.  (Brokers licensed prior to January 1, 2005 are exempt from continuing education requirements, but must complete NAR’s Code of Ethics class, required every three years (2022-2024))

Please contact TREC at 800.342.4031 with specific questions.

Designations

Designations can make a huge difference in a Realtor’s earnings.  Based on a 2013 NAR survey, the median income of REALTORS® without a designation was $33,500, while the median income of those with at least one designation was $61,100. That’s a difference of $27,600! And that’s why East Tennessee REALTORS works hard to offer a wide selection of on-site designation and certification classes to its members throughout the year.
