2019 KAAR Committees

Commercial Committee

Purpose: Responsible for providing guidance, information, and recommendations for commercial members of the Association.  Committee members will also assist the Education Director in identifying and evaluating new commercial education instructors and trainers.  The committee is authorized and empowered, subject to ratification of the Board of Directors, to do what is necessary to effectuate the purposes of the Commercial Multiple Listing Service.

Goal Considerations:
1. Be responsible for maintaining the Commercial Multiple Listing Service and for providing assistance to the Association Staff in implementing procedures which are in the best interest of all members.
2. Analyze the Commercial Multiple Listing Service and make recommendations for its improvement when necessary.
3. Identify and evaluate new commercial education instructors and trainers
4. Plan and promote annual commercial networking forum, along with other annual commercial events
 
Committee Membership Requirements:
1. All Members of the committee shall be KAAR CIE Participants or REALTORS® affiliated with Participants in the Multiple Listing Service.
2. Members so named shall serve one (2) year term.

Community Involvement Committee

Purpose: The Community Involvement Committee is responsible for fundraising and planning a finale event for KAAR's annual signature charity event, the Youth Villages Backpack Heroes Fundraiser. This fundraiser provides backpacks stuffed with school supplies to over 250 deserving children across East Tennessee. The committee is also responsible for providing recommendations to KAAR's Board of Directors for other community service projects and programs for Association involvement that will benefit the community and promote goodwill among REALTORS® and the public.

Goal Considerations:
1. Adopt public service projects that will promote goodwill between REALTORS® and the public
2. Have a least one major program for promotion during a year and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
3. Maintain liaisons with other community organizations with goals of improving the community or providing services to the poor and needy.

"The Knoxville Area Association of Realtors Community Involvement Committee partners with local charitable organizations to support and enhance their efforts in our communities."

Education Committee

Purpose: Assist the Education Director in developing and providing quality education to the membership, including the identification and evaluation of new education instructors and trainers

Grievance Committee

Purpose: Responsible for considering complaints alleging violation of the REALTORS® Code of Ethics and requests for arbitration of contractual disputes to determine if, taken as true on their face value, a Professional Standards Hearing is warranted.

Committee Membership Requirements:
1. All Members appointed to serve on the Grievance Committee shall be required to attend a full day training session on Monday, January 15.  Any Grievance Committee appointee unable to attend and complete the full session will be removed from the Committee.

Professional Standards Committee

Purpose: Responsible for the enforcement of the Code of Ethics by conducting Ethics and Arbitration Hearings in accordance with the Association's Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual.

Goal Considerations:
1. The committee shall investigate Ethics Complaints and Arbitration Requests in accordance with the Association's Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual.
 
Committee Membership Requirements:
1. All Members appointed to serve on the Professional Standards Committee shall have served at least two (2) years on Grievance Committee.
2. All Members appointed shall be required to attend a full day training session on Friday, February 1.  Any Professional Standards Committee appointee unable to attend and complete the full session will be removed from the Committee.

Residential Multiple Listing Service Committee

Purpose: Responsible for maintaining the Residential Multiple Listing Service for the use of the Residential Subscribers, subject to the Association's By-Laws and Rules and Regulations.  The committee is authorized and empowered, subject to ratification of the Board of Directors, to do what is necessary to effectuate the purposes of the Residential Multiple Listing Service.

Goal Considerations:
1. Be responsible for maintaining the Residential Multiple Listing Service and for providing assistance to the Association Staff in implementing procedures that are in the best interest of all members.
2. Analyze the Residential Multiple Listing Service and make recommendations for its improvement when necessary.
3. Enforce the Residential Multiple Listing Service Rules and Regulations.
 
Committee Membership Requirements:
1. Not less than (5) five nor more than (9) nine Designated REALTORS®; and
2. Not more than (7) seven nor less than (3) three REALTORS®; and
3. An elected member representative from each of the Association's Chapters;
4. All Members of the committee shall be Participants or REALTORS® affiliated with Participants in the Multiple Listing Service.
5. Members so named shall serve a two (2) year term.

Realtor® Party Team: Governmental Affairs Committee

Purpose: KAAR's Realtor® Party Team consists of the Governmental Affairs Committee, Realtor® Political Action Committee (RPAC Committee), and Local Political Coordinators (LPCs). Together, these groups work to advance one of the main objectives of KAAR’s mission, which is to “promote the preservation of the right to own, transfer, and use real property," by utilizing and promoting Realtor Party® resources and initiatives throughout KAAR's 12-county jurisdiction.  More information at www.RealtorParty.com.

The Governmental Affairs Committee is responsible for addressing city and county level regulations that affect REALTORS®, the real estate industry, and property owners throughout KAAR's 12-county region, and keeping KAAR's Board of Directors and members informed of such issues. The committee also conducts interviews of candidates for local political office and makes recommendations to KAAR's Board of Directors to support and contribute RPAC funds to selected local candidates who support REALTOR® Party issues. Committee members are encouraged to invest in RPAC and to attend meetings and events with local and state elected officials throughout the member's term.

Realtor® Party Team: RPAC Committee

The RPAC Committee is the fundraising and event planning committee setup to meet KAAR's annual RPAC fundraising and participation goals. The committee helps educate KAAR members about RPAC initiatives and publicize RPAC accomplishments at all levels of government through distribution and presentation of RPAC materials. RPAC is the largest nonpartisan trade association PAC in the nation and promotes the election candidates on both sides of the aisle who understand and support Realtor® Party interests. Committee members are encouraged to invest in RPAC.

Young Professionals Network

KAAR's Young Professionals Network (YPN) is a group exclusively for current REALTOR® members of KAAR. YPN helps REALTORS® excel in their careers by giving them the tools and engagement to become involved in four core areas: 
1. REALTOR® associations. Attend REALTOR® conferences and pursue leadership roles with their local, state, and national associations. 
2. Real estate industry. Take an active role in policy discussions and advocacy issues; be informed about the latest industry news and trends. 
3. Peers. Network with and learn from other REALTORS® by attending events, participating in online communication, and seeking out mentoring opportunities. 
4. Community. Become exceptional members of their community by demonstrating a high level of REALTOR® professionalism and volunteering for causes they feel passionate about.

While most REALTORS® in YPN are under 40, there is no age restriction. Any current REALTOR® member of KAAR who thinks he or she would benefit from membership is welcome to join and will be added to this group.
