KAAR Committee Information 

          AWARD OF EXCELLENCE

PURPOSE: Responsible for receiving, reviewing and approving applications for the Award of Excellence.  (Members must have earned the Award of Excellence to be eligible to serve on Committee).

 

                 Three, Four Five Star REALTOR Professionalism Award

PURPOSE:  Responsible for receiving, reviewing and approving Member Applications for the Association’s Three, Four, Five Star professionalism Award.

 

   RISING STAR AWARD

PURPOSE:  Responsible for rewarding a member who has been in the business three years or less and made significant professional advancements and contributions to the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors®.

 

MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE

    

      COMMERCIAL MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE

PURPOSE: Responsible for maintaining a Commercial Multiple Listing Service for the use of the Commercial Subscribers, subject to the Association’s By-Laws and Rules and Regulations. The committee is authorized and empowered, subject to ratification of the Board of Directors, to do what is necessary to effectuate the purposes of the Commercial Multiple Listing Service.

GOAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ø      Be responsible for maintaining the Commercial Multiple Listing Service and for providing assistance to the Association Staff in implementing procedures which are in the best interest of all members.

Ø      Analyze the Commercial Multiple Listing Service and make recommendations for its improvement when necessary.

Ø      Keep all members apprised of legal activities that might affect the Commercial Multiple Listing Service.

Ø      Enforce the Commercial Multiple Listing Service Rules and Regulations.

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

Ø      All Members of the committee shall be Participants or REALTORS® affiliated with Participants in the Multiple Listing Service.

Ø      Members so named shall serve two (2) year terms.

Ø      Either the Chairman appointed by the President shall be a member of the Board of Directors or a Liaison from the Board of Directors will be appointed by the President.  The Chairman shall be designated by the President.

                      RESIDENTIAL MULTIPLE LISTING SERVICE

PURPOSE:  Responsible for maintaining the Residential Multiple Listing Service for the use of the Residential Subscribers, subject to the Association’s By-Laws and Rules and Regulations.

The committee is authorized and empowered, subject to ratification of the Board of Directors, to do what is necessary to effectuate the purposes of the Residential Multiple Listing Service.

Ø      Members so named shall serve two (2) year terms.

        PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE

PURPOSE:   Responsible for investigating complaints alleging violation of the REALTORS® Code of Ethics and Requests for Arbitration of contractual disputes to determine if, taken as true on their face value, a Professional Standards Hearing is warranted.

GOAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ø      The committee shall investigate Ethics Complaints and Arbitration Requests in accordance with the Association’s Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual.

Ø      File a report at the end of the year of the number of Ethics Complaints and Arbitration Requests processed.

ETHICS AND ARBITRATION HEARING PANELS

PURPOSE:  Responsible for the enforcement of the Code of Ethics by conducting Ethics and Arbitration Hearings in accordance with the Association’s Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual..

 

               COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

PURPOSE:  Responsible for providing guidance, information, and recommendations to the Board of Directors of community service projects and programs for Association involvement that will benefit the community and promote goodwill among REALTORS® and the public.

GOAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ø      Adopt public service projects that will promote goodwill between REALTORS® and the public.

Ø      Have a least one major program for promotion during a year and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Ø      Maintain liaisons with other community organizations with goals of improving the community or providing services to the poor and needy.

Ø      Submit relevant articles to the Association’s newsletter.

    COMMUNICATIONS

PURPOSE: To advise and recommend to the Board of Directors policy matters concerning communication vehicles including printed publications, on-line versions of information, and information delivered via current and future emerging technological methods of the Association that are broadly circulated to the membership and community.

GOAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ø      Keep the members and public informed of the purposes and activities of the Association and its members. 

Ø      Promote the professional image of REALTORS® within the Association membership and with the public at large.

Ø      Help organize special projects designed to further the good public image

of the Knoxville Area Association of REALTORS® and its members.

Ø                              Establish close liaison with the area media.

Ø                              Submit relevant articles to the Association’s Online Newsletter as well as the area media.

 

        CULTURAL DIVERSITY

PURPOSE:  Responsible for promoting the letter and spirit of the Federal Fair Housing Law and the REALTORS® Code for Equal Opportunity in Housing.  Committee members serve as ambassadors to community organizations promoting cultural diversity and equal opportunity in housing in the Knoxville Area.

GOAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ø      Strive to make all REALTORS® aware of their legal responsibilities under the law and the REALTORS® Code of Ethics.

Ø      Insure an Affirmative Action Program for the Association and the firms of members.

Ø      Maintain liaisons with community organizations advocating cultural diversity and equal opportunities in the Knoxville Area.

Ø      Promote changes in real estate business practices to reflect the growing cultural diversity within the Knoxville Area.

Ø      Identify diversity and fair housing education needs and goals.

Ø      Keep members informed of the practices and activities of HUD and civil rights organizations in enforcing compliance with laws.

Ø      Provide for discussion regarding fair housing issues and cultural diversity issues.

Ø      Submit relevant articles to the Association’s newsletter.

 

                          GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

PURPOSE:  Responsible for keeping the Board of Directors and  the Membership informed of proposed legislation that might affect Real Estate or the Real Estate profession an providing  programs to encourage REALTORS® to become involved in the political process.  The committee represents the membership, the Association, the real estate industry, and property owners before governmental and regulatory entities and other organizations and groups as deemed appropriate.

GOAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Ø      Develop an annual comprehensive legislative and regulatory plan that identifies member needs and is in support of reasonable growth and productivity for the Knoxville Area.

Ø      Take a pro-active position in all levels of governmental affairs.

Ø      Promote the reduction of excessive controls that adversely impact the affordability of owning real estate.

Ø      Develop and maintain a contact network with all governing and regulatory entities in order to maintain a program of keeping the public and government officials informed of the Association’s position on issues affecting real estate, market conditions and the community.

Ø      Respond to TAR’S and NAR’S “Call to Actions”.

Ø      Respond to KAAR’S “Call to Actions” utilizing the Association’s “Voter Voice” site.

Ø      Work for the election of candidates with a business and political philosophy supportive of the Association and its members.

Ø      Promote RPAC among the membership and utilize RPAC funds to support nominated candidates for RPAC Funding.

Ø      Establish coalitions to achieve industry goals.

Ø      Submit relevant articles to the Association’s newsletter to strengthen member awareness of political issues and actions.

 

                 EDUCATION ADVISORY

PURPOSE:   Assist the Executive Vice President and the Education Director in developing and providing comprehensive educational programs to help members stay current with skills and knowledge needed to serve their customers and clients with acceptable competency.

 

            MEMBER SERVICE

PURPOSE:  Plan and recommend the implementation of new services for KAAR members to help them stay current with the skills and knowledge needed to serve their customers and clients with professionalism and competency and plan and implement social and networking activities for KAAR members.

The chair of the Committee has the authority to take the new member information to the Board of Directors for approval.

 

         PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORY GROUP

Presidential Advisory Groups (PAGS) are not part of the Association’s official Committee Structure.

A Presidential Advisory Group's members are appointed by the President to address issues that may not fall within the jurisdiction of a standing committee or to address an issue that may be time sensitive. The term of each PAG shall not extend any longer than the term of the appointing President.

A Presidential Advisory Group evaluates single activities or projects as assigned by the President.

The report recommendations generated by a Presidential Advisory Group is to be provided to the President only. Therefore, there shall be no open hearings, forums or reports to committees without the review and approval of the President in advance. The President shall approve distribution of the report within the Association.
